Though I have no time for viewing YouTube clips I remember Hancock from some old DSC/HIST/A&E programs. I'd characterize crediting Europe's Knight Templars with engineering the rock cut churches at Lalibela as Putting History in Chains.

Yeah he pretty much did the same here as well as in his book sign and the seal, also in his book he implied that the crushing of the Templars by Philip The Fair of France was due in part by an Ethiopian Embassy to the Pope who was gave the OK for Philip to do so. Prester John's letter also contained a warning against the Templars, who were believed to have been allied with his brother against him. "There are Frenchmen among you, of your lineage and from our retinue, who hold with the Saracens. You confide in them and trust in them that they should and will help you, but they are false and treacherous...may you be brave and of great courage and, pray, do not forget to put to death those treacherous Templars." - Prester John in the letter written to various Christian kings (1165) www.lundyisleofavalon.co.uk/templars/tempic05.htmBut I think the rock cut temples need not came from Templers as that form of architecture had been prominent in on the Nile centuries before there was anything such as Knights Templars. plus if they could hew great stones to make the biggest obelisk in the world then they had the ability to make those temples

What makes him think the Templars had anything to do with Lalibella? The architectual style is nothing like anything in Europe. All their buildings in the Levant followed European conventions at the time, why woukdn't we see the same in Ethiopia if they had created it?

Because the Ethiopians made use of the Templar like crosses in the design of the building.but I saw in another documentary where that type of cross pre-dates the Templars.
