I heard about this film" Timbuktu" this summer, & now it is nominated for a Oscar For Best Foreign Film. Many critics are hailing this film for it's beauty, & stark reality ; invasion of a ISISAL like group into Timbuktu, which did actually happen, I believe in 2012; I'm sure their is something about those events here on ESR. From what I heard from a film critic on NPR, the film makers are from Mauritania . Hoping they get that Oscar !!

Mauritanian film makers usually don't mince from the social realities and repercussions of a 1700 year old history of interaction between Saharans and Sahelians.
