First of all I would like to say how thankful I am for such an informative site. I've learned more here than all my high school history classes combined. I have just been reading the new threads from time to time for a couple of months before registering to finally become a member. My interest with African history came during my junior year of college. I attended high school (mostly white), and attended college(mostly white) without really knowing about self. And as I seemed to be doing well in regards to education out of high school I noticed how many of the friends I grew up with didn't have much of an interest in education and then it clicked. The reason is because the education system within this country, USA, makes sure that we as black people do NOT acquire a thorough notion of self because that would destroy the entire program of the powers that be in this country. So here I am soaking up knowledge every way I can so that I actually go about pursuing my craft and learning new things while understanding that I stand on the shoulders of African giants, who trailblazed the way for civilization. I'm also very interested in how Freemasonry, an organization coincidentally run by white males mainly, has to do with the hiding of African, particularly Egyptian & Ethiopian history. I remember watching the movie 'National Treasure' and watching the old white man, who was a Freemason, say that their secrecy was in order to uphold the "Status Quo". I don't believe EVERYTHING I see on television but that pretty much sums it all up. After centuries of demonizing, demoralizing, and straight up lying on people of African decent, if the world found out about the greatness of OUR African story, the African's role in the foundation of Ancient Egyptian/Ethiopian history, the European world would be flipped upside down and globally people would be aware that every indication of civilization is attributed to the Black man, the very ones who were demonized for all the wrong reasons. so once again thank you for all the great work, and I hope to add quality topics to this forum in the near future as well. Welcome wisdomisawesome23 many are beginning to remove the veil of ignorance in regards to the history of Africa and the diaspora and everyone has to start some where so please continue your journey.

Hello, My name is Gale and I teach Middle School Science. In my family we have always shared the folklore of Native American ancestry along with African Ancestry/European Ancestry. I have always been recognized as Black American with high cheek bones, slanted eyes and dark skin. There are a hue of skin-complexions and hair textures that display diverse phenotypes that make up my family reunions The surnames that are in my family are used by the local indigenous families in which my mother's family reside. Instead of doting on folklore and myths, I decided to have a mtdna test done to get started on inquiring and researching my ancestors through DNA testing. It has been over one year since my results came that I belong to Haplogroup H, subclade H10 and subgroup H10e2. Haplogroup H is the main group in Bryan Sykes book "Seven Daughters of Eve" as it populates 40% to 50% of European females. I knew that there was European ancestry because of Slavery in the Americas. My geographical ancestors were Finnish, Russian(Northern Europe) and Yoruba (Western Europe). I am a descendant of a European female not Native American or Black American. My European Grandmothers married into the African American communities and some may have thought they were marrying Natives but they were mulattoes that identified as Natives. I live in the Southeastern United States, North Carolina. Most of my European Grandmothers left the Pennsylvania areas after leaving Finland, Russia and Germany and some of the German-speaking ancestors moved to Tennessee and North Carolina and settled west of the Catawba River and later migrated to eastern North Carolina after marrying in to the African, Native and European communities. I was somewhat surprised that the European Ancestry was maternal instead of paternal directly. My father's haplogroup is Elbla (West Africa), but he has European ancestors because his mother's father was European, but her mother was of African Ancestry. My mother was only seven years old when her mother died and her mother was 28 yrs. old, so she did not have alot of maternal information. When, my result came back, I had over 200 European matches through my mother. Family Finder has located four cousins and only one has confirmed relations and it is through my mother's father's ancestors. She turned out to be my third cousin because our great grandfathers were brothers. One identifies as Native American/White so he has amnesia about the family history I am of the indigenous Saami (Soumi) people of Finland in which you will find some in Haplogroup H due to admixtures and also the Russian Indigenous (Mongolians) which explains some of my phenotypes characteristics. I am happy that I took the test and understand my ancestral journey and resilience in knowing and understanding the many faces of my being. I do feel at awe at the extreme geography between Finland (Nordic) and Russia (Slavic) and Africa (Yoruba)

(A little repetition from another thread) Hello Everyone, I'm Rivertemz, I just registered on this site yesterday, I've come across egyptsearch and egyptsearchreloaded several times before, since last year. I've been quite interested in Ancient Egyptian, but more into African History in general since I'm Native Nigerian and I would rather learn about my people than European History. Although I was very sceptical towards Afrocentrists and their ambitious ideologies, since most (not all) but most of them do not hold the same academic tools and source reliability most general scholars have in world history. They just seem to wonder with passion rather than solid facts on what 'race' the A.Egyptian truly were. As well as most Eurocentrist aka NeoNazis in most online forums or Egyptian nationalists that attempt to fabricate the current sources linking Egypt with the rest of Africa(ie the ex president of Cairo antiquities, Zahi Hawass). after the revealed dna results of both the Amarna family and Ramesse III, consisting of majority sub-Saharan lineage. I became even more interested and intrigued with Ancient Egypt. I definitely felt guilty for giving a blind eye at those same Aurocentrist who I felt their decades in the A.E. race controversy was in vain. Were being proven right by the very source of data Europeans thought would debunk our African connections, SCIENCE DNA/genetics has played a huge part in debunking the centuries of European imperial/national supremacy on the entire globe. The origins of Man The rulers of a great Empire And much more. I am a young student living in the UK, 19 Studying Undergraduate Biomedical Science A Nigerian (ethnic group-Yoruba ) And very interesting in Science, History, Anthropology, Archaeology, Astronomy, Architecture etc. I would like to share this article with you, came out 3 years ago, debunking the claim on King tut being related to ~ 1/2 European men; www.livescience.com/15388-discovery-channel-tutankhamen-dna.htmlYou May have come across this already. But I've done a Lot more research on Ancient Egypt so far. And I would like to be kept updated on research that they are still keeping under the lime-light.

Of course it's expected in all African countries to teach European colonialism in Africa, the effects and the after-math after a nation's independence. But besides learning actual European History, such as the British royal family and the French Revolution..it's none of our business, because we have our own history, Unless we were interested in world history then Europe comes as an option. I live in the UK, so I'm taught British/European history that tends to link to colonialism in itself. It's the history of the land that mostly takes on the the educational curricular anywhere. In regards to the deported girl, no. Send me a link.

Yes I agree, I might have worded my point of approach to this topic too vaguely, but I understand the concept of recognising cultural importance, knowledge left by the ancients and generally discovering more on this field as the advancement of technology unveils new findings.

Hey, just thought it was interesting that your father shares a west African haplogroup E1b1a, which is the same for Ramsess III And I'm actually Yoruba/ Nigerian . I believe I'm full Yoruba since both my parents have no known relatives outside our ethnic group. But I guess I can't be sure until I take the same dna test.

The country is mostly associated with the Indians, Chinese and Arabs. But there are a % of Africans there too.

Greetings One & All:
I'm elated that i found this forum. As an avid genealogist and family historian, i have like many others incorporated genetic genealogy along with conventional methods in order to advance my research endeavors. However, it's only recently that i've begun to delve into the deeper aspects of this methodology (genetic genealogy). So, after having received my haplogroup assignment (E-M2/E1b1a), I earnestly sought to learn as much as I could. Unsurprisingly, though, I found myself recycled back into old line prejudicial/racist paradigm: Though haplogroups E1b1a and E1b1b stem from the same basal branch E1b1, all of the sudden the former is "African" and the latter is magically transformed into "Middle Eastern" or "Near Eastern" (code words for non-African or "Hamito-Semitic" - that is "dark Caucasians"). You already know where this is going hence i need not go there...and the posts i've read in forums of a very WELL KNOWN genetic genealogy testing company were nothing short of subtle arrogance fluffed with an inflated sense of superiority with reference to said groups. And the so-called scientific literature falls in hook, line, and sinker. Subsequently, here i am, a medium where which i anticipate to learn, to exchange, and to contribute without the unnecessary noise. Thank you for being present.
