Interesting stuff- cultural links. Glad to see an Egyptian is involved rather
than as some do, try to "distance" themselves from anything "African" - just as
some Egyptians "distance" themselves from their former president Anwar Sadat
because he has clearly visible "negro" ancestry.
I like the concept of a Nile Valley unity, and I think in some broad sense it
can take in the Nile River BASIN, which is a concept Diop referenced in one
of his books, looking at that broad area drained by the Nile as furnishing
related numerous peoples and cultures, and not just a narrow strip in Egypt
dominarted by today's Arab types.
It would be nice if some of these deep pocketed black entertainers sponsor
similar projects and events that can unite the Pan African diasapora- say a
series of similar annual festivals and showcases bridging America, the Caribbean,
South America and Africa- rather than dropping tens of thousands on stripper parties
or "designer" handbags.
