Not really "white" more like Indian which Tut is in this movie and his sister wife maybe something else but it's still a white washing process of xing out Africans of a certain phenotype, for some unexplained reason they also made the Mittani royals blacks with a bad hairday but the casting is the least of it's problem it is atrocious in it's acting and dialogue the set as in Gods And Kings where they showed the Egyptian art was pinkish instead of the rich chocolate brown known to us. The casting of nonwhite but still non black actors and actresses was imo meant to dampened criticism while still maintaining the fiction that Tut's family and the Kemitians by extension did not generally looked like the below. Portraying the Mittani Royals as Blacks is also a clever misdirection and an excuse to claim artistic licences if needs be when faced with criticism. It really is ammeter night at the zoo. The list of inaccuracies are staggering. No historical, cultural, artistic or architectual research done at all. The story opens with Akhenaton ruling from Thebes, not Akhenaton. As usual, soldiers, commoners and servants running all over the place wearing the nemes headdress of the king. The high priest is sporting a little pony tail, when we all now that body hair was considered unclean and priests removed all body hair, even their eye lashes. The priests slaves are wearing the white crown of Upper Egypt. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Not expecting anything. At least I didn't have tomboy money to see this crap. I think if they actually made an accurate movie I'd die from shock. Still think Mohamed Ramadan would be a good cast. He's actually an Upper Egyptian for christ's sake, rather than a half Indian half European kid.

I take it Anansi, that you have seen some of this series. Yes, in the article they did say " Tut" was played by an person of Indian descent & others also.. It seems every other race can play ancient Egyptians in the media, Latino, Indians etc. but not a person of African decent except for being slaves. If they were really thinking,& really wanted to think out side the box, they would go ahead & cast people of African descent to play the major roles, for they would have the largest audiences ever esp. from the Black populations, & from those that want to see something different, even if they are just curious ! But from what I'm hearing, the series is just plain bad & more bad !

I don't watch these kinds of productions. When are we going to learn that we have to produce it for OURSELVES if we want to make it accurate?

I don't watch these kinds of productions. When are we going to learn that we have to produce it for OURSELVES if we want to make it accurate? Yes, I feel the same. It seems as if they are now trying incrementalism, a little Black, here, a little there. But never a full main cast that is of African descent. Even though in this series "Tut" Haremhad is played by a black actor, & I give credit for that, also they cast a beautiful women of African descent I don't know what role she plays. But they still will not cast the main characters in a film about ancient Egypt with actors & supporting cast with people of African descent, which could be a compo of many different types of people of African descent; from America,Sudan, Britain, Brazil, East Africa etc. to really get the flavor of what the people of ancient Egypt might have looked like. Also i would like to see something with some real money behind it. 150 million would be a good start, to really do justice for a film about ancient Kemet. Directors, do you have any that you would like to see direct such a film ? I think a film based on the book " The Rescue Of Jerusalem by " Henry T. Auban ,would be an excellent choice for such a film. Not only would you have an African world, but a (Hebrew Semitic ) world that form a cross roads, so to speak.

I really don't have any favorite directors. To be honest, I've been so disappointed with movies released the last 20 years (I'm turning 27 in december) that I really don't care much anymore. Most of the movies I've seen in the last couple of years, I've forgotten the plot of the movie after 3-4 days, the quality is just horrendous these days, so to tell you the truth, I'm not sure if I'd be any more interested if an African made a proper version because to be frank, the whole movie concept bores me to death these days. I like to play music (guitar) . Much more rewarding! :-)

I think I movie with Jaden Smith as Tut would be good. He's the right age. He looks exactly like him. They are both from rich families. Obviously Tut was a hell of a lot richer but you get what I'm saying. Celebrities are today's royalty. Plus people pay big money for movies and TV featuring black casts such as Empire. Will Smith movies make a fortune at the box office. I would like to see a movie showing the intrigue involved with royalty back then. Assassination, poison, his fathers legacy of monotheism and how he was forced to distance himself from that to stay in power despite he was family. Those are my tastes though.
