Mud Bound, directed by Dee Rees who is a African American women is getting a lots of buzz for this Netflix production. About the south & 2 soldiers one African American & the other white come back home to the South ,I've heard nothing but accolades concerning this film !
The second film will be out next year Tell Them We Are Rising a documentary by accomplished African American director & writer Stanly Nelson, who did recently a documentary on the Black Panthers is a film I also must see !

This is the director Dee Ress taking about her much acclaimed film Mud Bound, where she talks a little about how many folks esp African Americans are tired of so called slave narrative films. I also just saw an interview with her on the Tavis Smiley show which I will try to post once it becomes available. I like that she pushes back on it esp. on the Tavis Smiley show which i agreed with her about this film which is set after WW11 in the south. This aspect of the Black experience has not really been explored in film.

Will check them out..BTW do you know the release date. Mud Bound came out on Nov 17 20017 in a couple of markets in theaters N. Y.. LA. forgot the other city, only for a short time; but it is a Netflix production & film, which can be seen on Netflix at any time. She is the director to watch, I became aware of her when she did her break out film Pariah, about 4 years or so ago; she is a maverick which is why i really like her. The other film, We are Rising ,will be out in Feb 20018 . here is the interview with Dee Ress & Tavis Smiley, great interview with also the brother who is one of the stars of the film !!
