Although not as widely known or recognized I was curious to know whether someone had any known well documented sources of African martial arts particulary that of the Ashanti as I've heard that during their apogee all throughout the empire were schools that taught various forms of combat with the sword but now apparently it is all but extinct with a few schools still remaining but haven't heard much of them. I am already fimilar with Hausa boxing, machete fencing which is a direct descendant of African stick fighting with elements of European fencing found in the New World forms, as well as capoeira (although most people consider it to be Brazilian martial arts but really is African in origin having roots in modern day Angola so I consider it to be African even though many tend to ignore that aspect.), as well as the various forms of wrestling. Thanks in advance.
