Yeah he is is using a mixed format, which is not bad per sde, provided that the African foundations
are not downplayed or airbrushed away. He does not say much about those foundations. If he
talks of "old Egyptians" the "oldsters" would go back to the foundational era in 3 ways:
1) the presence of indigenous Africans in the Egyptian Nile Valley from day 1. They are not
a "later addition" that "moved nawth." They were there from the beginning, as remains like
Nazlet Khater show.
2) the movement of African peoples within Sahara and south of the Sahara to form part
of the foundation
3) The close relationships between Nubia and Kemet that operated (not the sole cause of course- there
were other influences) but it was from the south that the Dynastic civ arose and so-called "Nubians"
participated in and helped form the dynastic civilization. Some scholars see this process as the southerners
eventually growing numerous or strong enough to simply branch off on their own. They had the best piece
of territory with more rich farmland, and without any Nile cataracts for example to hinder movement of men
and material. Another branch became so-called "Nubia" which peeled off its own related parallel development,
Its like 2 branches of the same family going their own way but still remaining kin. In the north other
groups operated but it was from the south that the Dynasties sprung, and the southern influence dominated.
In matters of religion for example "Old Egypt" was a product of old North East Africa.
Time and time again this is forgotten, downplayed or downgraded.
Nebsen says:
his guy Masaman is gaining a following on You -Tube with his break down of history & people of the world.. I posted one of his video's before a while back..but he can be very slippery esp when it comes to Africa & Egypt..he's a 3 card molly slight of hand with his facts & DNA interpretations ..I like to get some folks here to check this video out..while he sticks to the" facts" in a sense he also as far as I can detect over looks or underplays some of his facts..I know some here on ESR are better at spotting flaws in these types of historical facts...so what's your view of this video ?Yeah, you are right to have some reservations about this. The name of the game is subtle "spin" these days.
Now it could be said that his video is looking more at the modern era- the coming of the Arabs for example
and the changeover under their dominating influence- circa 630s AD. This is fine, but if a title talks about
"Old Egyptians," info should also credibly talk about the old foundations.
One can think of the book written by Egyptologist Donald Redford in 2008 called
"From Slave to Pharaoh: the Black Experience in Egypt."
He starts his notion of "the black experience" from the 25th "Nubian" Dynasty
as if that is "the beginning" of "the black experience." It is totally ludicrous.
WHat? There were no black people in Egypt until the 25th? And of they were, they
only black people were "slaves?" This is completely laughable and typical of the
Eurocentric slant and propaganda in the field. Then he talks about "wretched Kush"
as if this is so much part of "the black experience" when in fact there is plenty
of info on "wretched Asiatics" and comparing Asiatics to reptiles etc etc, but
few European writers or Egyptologists are running around talking about how that
is such an integral part of a "white experience" in Egypt. Now where have we seen
this hypocritical double standard befo?
Also coming to mind is National Georgaphic's "spin" in a 2007 article about
"The Black Pharaohs" which predictably starts at the 25th Dynasty. But as even
conservative Egyptologists like Frank Yurco show there were black pharaohs aplenty-
the 12th Dynasty for example is well known for their dark coloring and Nubian features.
This was hundreds of years before the 25th Dynasty showed up. Even more laughable
is how they spin the history as "black pharaohs" from "deep in Africa." Nubia is
right next door to Egypt, and the old Sudan a few score miles away. How is this
"deep" in Africa, unless of course the "spin" is to downplay blacks and imply that
they are these distant foreigners and aliens in Egypt. Its like people in Toronto Canada,
moving to Buffalo New York right across the border, and history books talking bout settlement
from "deep in Canada." In normal circumstances this reasoning would be laughed away as
nonsensical, but when it comes to blacks/Africans and Egypt, this is the bogus model being
pushed time and again. It does of course nicely serve a certain Eurocentric ideological and
propaganda function.
But while the vid may be focused more on the recent Arabized changeover, the true foundations
should not be lost sight of.
