I don't think reparations will succeed, and will only give right-wingers a propaganda
bonanza. The booing only confirms their narrative of "other voices" being "shut out" or "silenced"
by PC extremists etc etc. It may be a questionable narrative overall but they will get huge political
mileage on it. White liberals likewise will be slow to get on board, because they know how divisive
the issue is and how it will be exploited by the right. Black Democrat Coleman Hughes
basically summarizes many of their arguments against. But he has some valid points re
time and money being better spent on more urgent pressing needs, and the 30% of blacks who
oppose reparations. These will likely join with both white libs and cons to defeat reparations
making the issue a huge waste of time and political capital spent. I have run into a few black
nationalist types who oppose on implementation grounds- arguing that most of the reparations
money will end up in the hands of boule-dominated bureaucracies, who will be the ones getting
paid, with comparatively little directly trickling down into the hands of the black man on the street.
