Will no one utter a word in defense of Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele? With attacks pouring in from both the left and the right, won't someone at least pretend to take his side? Sigh. Must I do everything around here? Eugene Robinson Friday, April 9, 2010

Well, its funny that Steele, a Black Republican, used to chide and belittle Democrats for playing card and now he's playing it. When people like Steele becaome mouthpieces for Republicans their message is that race doesn't matter, but now it does for him. The GOP wanted a black token after Obama's election and Steele, eager to grab as much of the spotlight with Obama as possible, allowed himself to be that token, now he must deal with everything that comes with it. I think he's right when he says his race is a factor, but hey, he has to pay to play.
