OK! this is how my mind works I'll find something either in a conversation or a picture ,and file it away for later study, this thread was due in part to a conversation I had with Al-Takruri in the Dionysiaca thread where he hipped me to the thyrsus, a fennel plant stalk capped with a pine cone that Dionysus' female followers, the Maenads, used as if spears in this war incident. Read more: egyptsearchreloaded.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=bag&action=display&thread=251#ixzz1mF9DP48vNow I have seen the cone before on Babylonian wall sculpture but paid little attention to it along with the intertwining snakes, and naturally I took a look at Kemet to see if it presents it self there also, and yes as a matter of fact cones are found all over the place from temples shaped cones in India and the Vatican to the common ice cream cones we have it in plain sight, but does this sprang from one source and was diffused over a large geographical area/space and time,Or multiple cultures arrived at the same ideas and conclusions. The Cone as representative of the Pineal GlandThe pineal gland or epiphysis synthesizes and secretes melatonin, a structurally simple hormone that communicates information about environmental lighting to various parts of the body. Ultimately, melatonin has the ability to entrain biological rhythms and has important effects on reproductive function of many animals. The light-transducing ability of the pineal gland has led some to call the pineal the "third eye". Anatomy of the Pineal GlandThe pineal gland is a small organ shaped like a pine cone (hence its name). It is located on the midline, attached to the posterior end of the roof of the third ventricle in the brain. The pineal varies in size among species; in humans it is roughly 1 cm in length, whereas in dogs it is only about 1 mm long. To observe the pineal, reflect the cerebral hemispheres laterally and look for a small grayish bump in front of the cerebellum. www.vivo.colostate.edu/hbooks/pathphys/endocrine/otherendo/pineal.htmlCould it be that the Pineal Gland is representative of the eye of Horus and hence a cone? Pine Cone at the VaticanKemetian The pine cone staff of Osiris. Egyptian Museum in Turin, Italy, 1224 BCThe pine cone is a common symbol on images of Hindu gods in India.Mexican god holds pine cones and fir tree, symbols of rebirth and the sun.So my question is how did the ancient knew the importance of the Pineal Gland to render it mythologically and passed it down through the ages and if there was a single original source, wouldn't that prove there was contact between the peoples of the so called new world.

Anansi ,
Very strange I was just checking out a documentary on you tube that talked about the pineal gland & the pine cone about 2 weeks ago. They used in fact many of the pictures you have posted. You say their are example all over the place in Kemet, can you post pictures of some. That was one of the first thoughts I had, where were they in kemet ? I could not think of any symbols that looked like a cone off hand. so could you please post them.

Egyptian Museum in Turin, Italy, 1224 BCI have only that single sourced pic but it's more than likely the eye of Horus was a more popular representation of the Pine..al Gland than the cone. How ever this kind inquiry is tough because I am wading through a lot of New Aged and also the old aged occult stuff,to get to the truth behind it all, and what program were you watching if you don't mind I'd like to check it out.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiIpfZnm6ng&feature=relatedThe name of the documentary was"Deception Project" I posted the part that talks about the pine cone . It has many parts but, I'm not a big fan of conspiracy theory's, so this & one other segments are the only one's I watched. You know in ancient Kemet they would not have had the Flora( trees) or kinds of forest that pine cone come's from. As we all know wood was always in short supply that,s why they imported wood from other countries Lebanon being one of the principle places . Could the symbol of the pine cone have been imported from the Middle East ? For the picture you posted really reminds me of a much later period, Ptolemaic ? Now, years back I did study with an brilliant African American historian & occultist named Dr. Ligon along with Dr. Richard King with ancient Kemet being their focus out of the L.A area ; & I don't ever remember them talking about pine cones in connection with any of the occult or esoteric symbols we were studying concerning Kemet( Egypt). Now they used the Uraeus to get across the same ideas & concepts as the pine cone. In fact they published a magazine called Uraeus. I hope to one day be able to scan one of the magazines( Uraeus) & post it here for the forum to check out !

Not much in the way of the pine cone in African mythos further south but to the west and north there maybe some links involving Dionysis Assuming the Dionysus cult arrived in Greece with the importation of wine, it probably first emerged about 6000 BC in one of two places—the Zagros Mountains and borderlands of Mesopotamia and Persia (with a rich wine culture via Asia Minor), or from wild vines on the mountain slopes of Libya and other regions in North Africa. The latter provided wine to ancient Egypt wine from about 2500 BC, and was home to ecstatic rites involving animal possession—notably the goat and panther men of the Aissaoua Sufi cult of Morocco (although this cult may have been influenced by the Dionysian one). In any case Minoan Crete was the next link in the chain, importing wine from the Egyptians, Thracians and Phoenicians and exporting it to its colonies (such as Greece). The Mysteries probably took shape in Minoan Crete from about 3000 to 1000 BC, since the name "Dionysus" exists nowhere other than Crete and Greece. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dionysian_Mysteries#OriginsSo although Pine do grow in Africa to the south I can find nothing in the way of it's use in religion,so maybe North Africa or out side Africa lays it's origins in religion which may have been picked up by the Kemites.

I think what we should be looking at concerning Kemet is not the cone, but Tehuti with the caduceus staff ! I have 2 articles that i will read or post later . Serpent power( Uraeus) & pineal gland, I believe are the keys to ancient Kemet . The cone is a symbol concerning fire, for the cone is opened during fire/heat to drop it's seed. We have the pineal gland & the Ra energy / Kundalini which is symbolic of fire & the activation (opening) of the pineal, great spiritual consciousness & awareness !

Wow Nesben I see what you mean Lol now I'll have to go through the whole thing, because I love a mystery and the weird stuff plus the fact that you were on the same page as I was, but yes one have to keep every thing in perspective and not be consumed by it plus they got into African fractal mathematics something that we posted here sometime ago. egyptsearchreloaded.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=arch&action=display&thread=178Here^ this is a weird coincidence..

Anansi, This is pt 46 which i liked also, it also deals with fractals. This is a very well made documentary with over 45 pts. The person or group that put this" Deception Project" together have many many wonderful spiritual truths & awareness , but also comes with a strong P.O.V. that one has to always be alert too ; for it for some, can be a bias of sorts. From what I have gleaned so far with the pts I have watched , they are warning against the Galactic Federation, Ashtar Command ,& Ascended Masters. They are really competing spiritual schools of thought( a New Age battle royal if you will )! For I'm familiar with all these schools of thought in the metaphysical world. I'll sift through more pts & see what I can personally take to prepare for Dec 2012 & beyond !
