Forget about what the U.S.A will do, many applauded the U.S as the air force of those people during the conflict, the question is what the A.U or neighboring African states will or can do and how to press them into action.for unless some Hollywood big wig stand up and say something it will not draw any attention, another way is a petition drive to be posed as a question on the white house website but you need 25,000 folks to sign an on-line for the White House to get a formal response, however don't look for anything substantive in a response other than the same ol tired tried and tested "we regret the loss of lives and we implore the new government to reign in extremist blah blah blah". For in reality we want the oil but who knows maybe just maybe it'll spark one of our big organization to put this to Obama being this is an election year.

what is upsetting to people including myself ,is the mainstream media ignoring this story ! ! Again if they had more people of color in the news rooms like I stated before, this story might get some traction .

Sometime I wonder when us Africans are going to get it. I try to look for the good in all people, but it seems as if the pattern that we see throughout history are non-Africans befriending Africans in the name of some humanitarian effort (i.e. Christianity, Islam, Africom, US Africa Command ;-) , etc. ) in order to eventually gain our trust so that they can rape, kill us, & strip us of our land. We get no credit at all. We've built the U.S.A. with our sweat & tears even after slavery, cough cough....peonage. We've created nearly all of the musical genres that the world has deemed popular and has made White America BILLIONS of dollars, we've created nearly all aspects of civilization and still don't get credit for it, and now this!? Oh no this will never work.

It's upsetting and sad what is happening to libyan blacks and black immigrants in libya. But, i gotta say this article seems to exaggerate things. I particularly find the talk of ethnic cleansing to be spurious. You know how much fighting and bruhaha would have to go on if they tried to cleanse lybia of it's many native blacks? Arresting ppl based on assumptions of guilt due to their race or ethnicity is not ethnic cleansing. The black lybians are still there and aren't being systematically whiped out or pushed out of lybia. Bad things are happening in libya to blacks, particularly the immigrant ones, but this article just over simplifies things and exaggerates reality. We can call attention to grave issues without making them seem worse than they are.
Also, i don't think this article or the media in general differentiate enough between native black libyans and immigrant blacks. The latter are the ones who are most in danger as they are obviously foreigners and so more open to be viewed as among the mercenaries qaddaffi used. They are also huddled in ad hoc settlements under desparate conditions while I see native blacks on tv with the rest of libyans cheering for qadafi's downfall without having to flee to a settlement. Have any african countries with migrants in libya had a serious talk with the gov on the conditions of their citizens?

I hear you load & clear Africurious ! The article is a bit hyperbole; but while I read it some of the same thoughts crossed my mind. What came up for me is, the writer of the article is very upset because the mainstream media here in the states at least, have not covered any of this. I have not heard about it except from my reading on certain blogs like The Root ; which have been reporting on Libya since the "Arab Spring" began & brought to light, the plight of the African immigrant etc. a while back. So I had to put the writers hyperbole into context & some what forgive their short comings & exaggerations & see justified anger here !

Blacks are vital to lybia, have been always will be. Blacks make up significant portions of the "Southern" Areas of North Africa, in reality the Saharah desert where the aboriginal North Africans came from. The black Lybians AKA the Taureg(In this case) and others such as the Oasis dwellers are some of the most millitant and resistant to Euro-Expansion in all of Africa, so if these Arab Lybians want to keep pushing a sleeping Giant go ahead, as seen with states like Niger and Mali the Taureg have no problem going to war with nations they feel are discriminating against them.
The Arab Lybians need a reality check, before NATO and Obama rescured their ass, Gadaffi was handing them their ass in a basket, So don't let your victory get to your head, the Taureg and other blacks are no Gadaffi, plus Lybia is in shambles and needs to recover, don't get cocky. The Taureg from what I gather of them are not some "Assalam-Alaykum, Yessa Mr. Arab" types..

The main thing we can do as African people is educate. What you think the white man or some Arab is gonna tell our story and give us 100% credit..?? LOL, As Dr. Keita said, its up to us to learn the languages and to go to Axum, Egypt, Nubia, Timbuctoo etc and read and research ourselves instead of relying on outdated material written by whitey. The main thing we can do is to tell our story again and again, to hell with what people have to say. We should as African Americans be more outspoken about stuff like "Redtails" which is a good movie but barely scratches the surface on blacks fighting for America and blacks building America with our hands, blood, sweat and tears. Our people will support Coonery like Tyler Perry and BET B.S but when it comes to our real history we suddenly become silent. Then you get Afrocentric coons talking about America, the nation our people built, died for, and changed, is "AmericaKKKa" and some pathetic Back to Africa B.S(Which they never intend to follow through with). America is at least 50% Black historically, and Im being generous. This is our nation as much as anyone, No other race did more for this nation while recieving the least and the scraps off the table of our efforts. America is the result of Africans who died for 400+ years to make a nation where "All Men are Created Equal"...The white man simply talked a good game, Africans put that shit into practice, and you got these Afrocentric Coons up here trying to throw the baby out with the bathwater. As a future historian, I plan on telling everyone who I teach our role as Africans in world history, despite their skin color. I remember when I was taking U.S history with this Black Professor, and their was this light skinned black student complaining to other non Africans about our Prof. being to "Afrocentric"...lol. And trust me the Prof. was not Afrocentric in the strictest sense(compared to someone like Clyde Winters), he simple focused on African American's role in America MORE than the ave. non Black Professor, which IMO was not much.
LOL, I remember thinking, "Really" you are bothered because this man is focusing on African Americans, Your Ancestors...Your complaining?? So lets be clear its not just whites and Arabs or non Africans, Our biggest hurdle is ourselves, Majority of our own people are the biggest thorns and worst enemies to our progress and growth as a people.
I mean no No one in the class complained except a black student.-Sad.
