I have been reading about this guy for quite awhile now,but nothing seemed to happen no action taken by anyone when will the A.U step up to bat on things like this, why are non Africans at the forefront on issues like this,I have been having bitter arguments with friends of mine who want to focus on the presenter rather than this fiend and the people he traumatized for decades,or have them drowned out in the Geo-politics which is real btw,see the thread on Africom posted by Wisdomasome . egyptsearchreloaded.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pol&action=display&thread=1100klik me^ The billions of barrels of oil recently found in Uganda,South Sudan have vast reserves, all kinds of maneuvering being taking place,so this is an excuse for Africom to gain a foot hold for permanent bases, all said and done I am a people before profit kinda guy and I wish the A.U would live-up to challenges like the LRA and the continued slaughtering of dark-skinned Africans in Libya, but will they act? or continue to be a pawn in Geo-politics.

Her criticism is right on. Their are more people looking at this campaign & saying their are flaws that should be looked at ! I think the phenomenon of the social media & how it was used is the real story. It points to a young demographic being able to flex their muscles( world wide) around issues that they deem important . It is pointing at a new model moving forward which I'm glad to see.

The ugandan woman's criticisms are intelligent and well-placed instead of some of the nonsense i've seen posted on egyptsearch about whiteman this and that so we should be suspicious, whiteman causing africans to be as savage as kony, and the kony2012 campaign being part of some larger push to get foreign forces into africa to exploit resources. I bet those same critics were lambasting the west for doing nothing to stop the rwandan genocide. So "the whiteman" gets blamed either way.
Like this ugandan woman, I too was bothered by how the vid made it seem like africans can't help themselves and spoke about how america should be some knight in shining armor when there are african gov'ts there. But, I saw the benefit of the vid more as a way to bring international spotlight to the situation so these african gov'ts have more pressure on them to act. I too also thought the vid focused too much on uganda when the LRA has already been pushed out of there and is marauding in neighboring countries. I hope these central african countries can coordinate their efforts and snuff out the LRA. It'd be nice to see kony's head on a pike but killing the leader of an org doesn't always end the org.

When has the AU ever stepped up to solve great african conflicts? Individual african leaders or countries have at times accomplished things in this regard but the AU hasn't that I can recall. It's a morally bankrupt and largely toothless org. And as far as Africom being some trojan horse I think you should consider that the west or whomever else gets resources from african countries quite easily without having to have forces on the ground. This isn't the 1800s. There are international markets for raw materials, african govts are willing to sell to gain revenue, and the west has the money to buy. And many african govts will shit on their own ppl to make a profit as has been demonstrated many times before and recently in ethiopa, where 10s of thousands of ppl have been forcibly removed from their land by the govt so that the land can be sold to foreign interests who will set up commercial farms. With international markets for transportable raw materials and callous govts more than willing to give access to stationary resources whatever the harm to the ppl, why would america need to go through expense and set up bases there? They have a base in djibouti and one can see the strategic sense to ensure safe passage through red sea/suez canal from asia. But uganda or s. sudan? Nah!!

Remember North Sudan is allied with China a base in Uganda would block or discourage movement of north Sudan into the South if a proxy war should develop.

^Allied is too strong a word. They have very friendly relations, yes, but are in no way allies. And why would the US and china fight a proxy war in Sudan? Or even any proxy war for that matter? The US and china make a lot of money together and are economically entwined. This isn't the cold war where two powers were bitterly vying to spread their own world view and system of govt. Also, if the US were so concerned about a proxy war in Sudan then they wouldn't have outed the S. Sudan gov's secret purchase of tanks which were being transported via kenya. Those tanks were stuck in kenya because the US pressured them to not transfer the tanks to S. Sudan because the US was concerned about the growing tension between the Sudans and their increasing armament. And, military bases are for actual wars between opponents, not proxy wars, or else there would be no need for the bases.
I think we too often have a knee-jerk reaction to any American or European involvement in Africa and see all kinds of schemes without enough supportig evidence. We should be wary of Africom, but that isn't the same thing as the few troops who are being sent to C. Africa to give advice to the African countries plagued by the LRA.
