I rely first on genetics, then anthropology, archeology,geography....finally what is written in the "history" books. Authors lie. Genetics do not lie once the sampling is done properly.
Where is the genetics proof of Barbary pirates bringing white people to Africa in huge quantities. There is none!! Yes the Ottoman Turks are there. y-DNA J2(not J1).
In fact there is one study that cast doubt on the expulsion Moors in from Iberia. There is no genetic trace of the "documented" expulsion of the quantity of Moors from Iberia occured.
Also, if you followed the discussion I had with Azur. The "historical documents " states that the Azores and other islands were unhabited. The genetic proof shows that the Islands were really populated before the Portuguese invaded. The historical authors lie. Genetics do not. The interpretation is usually twisted and spun to confuse the lay reader. Fortunately some of us can read and understand this stuff. More of us will be able soon. AMRTU is getting there.
