Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan hope to make film about African King Mansa Musa the richest man in history. [“You got to tell stories in today, or in the future,” says Jordan. “Or can we go back even further? There’s always one period that people want to go back to, but can we go back to Hannibal? Or Mansa Musa, destroying economies as he traveled? Can we go back to the Egyptians?”] theyoungempire.com/2016/09/29/ryan-coogler-and-michael-b-jordan-hope-to-make-film-about-african-king-mansa-musa-the-richest-man-in-history/amp/Klik for more, now this is what I'm talking about, coming off the success of Black Panther, all I can say is,as long as these brothers and sisters stay woke we can finally tell our story like never before.

Yes, I am glad they are doing this and when they do it right, with style and credibility it is great to watch. I love Mansa Musa. Only thing I don;t like about his history is how after he gave away most of the gold on this 300+camel caravan, he had to borrow money from gouging Arab money-lenders to finance his journey back home- a bummer. But hey, he put Mali on the map worldwide in terms of exposure, for all time.

"he had to borrow money from gouging Arab money-lenders to finance his journey back home- a bummer." Thats not a bummer ......... that is impressive in its own right. Can you imagine the type of credit and collateral you would need to guarantee loans of that extent ?

Sure but he started out with over 300 camels loaded with gold. And he had to go in debt to get back home, after having given away so much wealth on his trip as gifts. Rather than pay the moneylenders, he could have saved on all that interest. That's a bummer..

The gold comes from ground......in endless quantities in Africa and extremely accessible near surface in West Africa...so no bummer at really.
He was the king and owned everything so ..... as far as he was concerned it was like going back and digging up some more dirt.
No bummer at all.

Well actually he didn't own every thing, just the gold nuggets, traders had to trade in gold dust, but yeah he wasn't popular in the gold producing part of his empire, some locals scoffed at him to this date.
