This was mentioned over at ES sometimes ago, but some folks regarded them as not quite like us moderns,but regardless that's quite an astounding age to tamper with seafaring.

Good find. When folk think of migration from Africa its usually via a land route through the Middle East, but this ancient Gibraltar sea route from Africa to Europe seems to have been repeated in Neolithic times. Its intriguing per one study below that there seems to have been some cultural similarities between the pre-dynastic Badarian culture of Egypt and the Late Atlantic Neolithic cultures of Spain, perhaps backstopping to a common ancient cultural source in the Sahara. African people moved around. They didn't stay "down south" some place, huddled behind some sort of climatic apartheid barrier, as various dubious "true negro" claims try to make out......
