I would rate the movie only average as far as plot and special effects but the costumes were good.
Rather than stereotypical leopard skins, or basic swords and sorcery outfits, they came up with
some different things. The long coats or jackets of the DOra Miljae for sample, rather than the
easy leather gear type choice. Mkabu's group has costumes that invoke the aprons and animal fur/skin
forearm and shin gear of the Zulu and Xhosa, blended with leather, rather than the stereotypical
"jungle" loincloths seen in countless Tarzan movies. Mabku's people live in cold snowy mountains
interestingly enough, which in theory should make people aware that tropical Africa has numerous micro
climates- from snowy high altitude plateau, to cold cloud forest, to burning deserts, to cool
coastland. Its not all "jungle".. or "savannah"..
I could not figure out what powers accrue to their Jabari wood however? Whats so sacred about
this Jabari wood?
And of course we get to see very little of Wakanda's regular people themselves. They look vaguely
"SOuth African" tradit, The 2 pony or horse riders in the opening scene waving at the royal
Wakandan air ship overhead look like traditional Basuto (Lesotho) type herders.
