I know we have done more than one thread on the Nisbidi writing system, but I like this take on the issue especially from one who is bringing it back to popularity. I like the myth of the intellectual apes who past writing to men, almost remind me of Thot in away. Additional surprise is was the domain of females before men took it over..view and enjoy.

Interesting. The legendary beginnings I read about made it sound like baboons fresh off the savanna, hopped in and brought writing. But its not baboons, but a separate baboon-like species this detailed legend talks about. Its also great how he explains and does the actual writing. I also didn't know Nsibidi was being written on into the 1960s, and the first users were women.

Yeah took me by surprise too for how late it was an actual thing, I hope Nigerian politics can see it as just another national treasure that deserves to be maintained and propagated past ethonocentrism. I like a how easy it seems to passed into other languages as long as one grasped the characters.I Also I've longed about the Leopard society, as there were a secretive leopard priest thingy in ancient Kemet..a revisit if the feline pendant in Ba-twa or dwarf like figure is see through artifacts such as the Kongo Bess and the Nigerian Bess..not saying there is fire but there definitely smoke.

Do you have anything more on the Leopard society practices/priests or leopard linkages? I have read about the panther appearing both in Kemet and in the religious practices of nearby NE African cultures.

THE LEOPARD MENegyptsearchreloaded.proboards.com/thread/1991/leopard-men?page=1There is nothing specific like I said but like the headrest and staff of office down to the fly wisk and other symbols of power is generally widespread throughout Africa.
