I see some have enjoyed my posting of computer animation cartoon of "Black Archaeologist ;" I found it funny, but with a real serious side. Just recently I posted some comments on the blog The Root.com concerning an article about an archaeological find of a free slave town in N.J. called Timbuktu . The picture included in the article showed all white archaeologist ( students) on the dig. I asked Where are the Black Archaeologist ? I got an reply with some links too my inquiry . Do we know of the archaeological digs with black archaeologist involved in ? Who are they? Could some on this forum keep the rest of us abreast of what happening in that area? Are their persons on this forum students of archaeology ? My feelings a forum as such as ESR should devote some space to this subject especially, as it applies to Africa & the diaspora. So here are some of the information (Links) I got from my post. 1http://www.diaspora.uiuc.edu/forums.html 2 www.columbia.edu/cu/lweb/indiv/africa/cuvl/AfArt.htm3 www-sul.stanford.edu/depts/ssrg/africa/history/hisarche.html4http://www.archaeoafrica.de/

It seems that a couple of links are not working. The one I most wanted the forum to see, you can just do a search for "The African Diaspora Archaeology Network"this should take you to the home page. The other you can do a search for "Columbia University art & Archaeology Of Africa Library" it has a number of links !

I don't know of any black archaeologists except for Felix Chami in Kenya, I'll do a search for more.

You are asking specifically for archaeologist? not paleontologist and anthropologist.

Since all three fields are some what related & have some overlap,it doe's not matter ! Any one or combination, would be of interest to myself & hopefully the forum. It just would be great too have a list of names of people of African descent working in these science oriented fields, & to know, where, & what, they are involved in.
