Sun Ra was way ahead of his time. This is a excellent documentary on Sun Ra. It would take BBC to make this, for PBS would not, could not do such a documentary. I had seen Sun Ra in person in 1972 at the Harding theater in San Francisco Ca. We thought the theater was going to detach from it's foundation & shoot into space , that how heavy & out there he & his orchestra was; the show was well over 3 hours.Also one of my best friends was a part of his troupe in the mid 70's. This is a documentary that really opens up a time when the "Black Arts Movement "was at it's apex ,along with Black Power. A great history lesson, along with a brother we should never forget ! ! for Sun Ra was way ahead of his time, enjoy
