It's true that the Western Media only likes to present Africa in a negative light; choosing to highlight the most remote villages, the poorest slums, and the most primitive tribes. Also is the hypocrisy of only highlighting crisis, such as droughts, diseases, and civil unrest. It is not my intent to diminish any of those crisis that definitely require attention, but to also show the continent in a different light, with more 'positive' news, if you will.

I am posting modern African cities, designed by Africans themselves, post-independence. Interesting, I wonder how much the colonials were relying on native knowledge during the imperial era. If anyone knows anything I'd like to hear more about it. For example perhaps the lay out of cities (before independence) After all didn't an African American help design the white house or something? And the skills and knowledge of African Americans, I would assume, have a big root in Africa

If anyone knows anything I'd like to hear more about it. For example perhaps the lay out of cities (before independence) After all didn't an African American help design the white house or something? And the skills and knowledge of African Americans, I would assume, have a big root in Africa I think the layout of certain cities like Abeokouta and Kumasi may have kept it's original plan after-all they followed a grid iron plan so it was easier to follow cities like Johannesburg maybe totality European in planning. Your second question you are referring to Washington D.C ...the story goes a man called Lafayette was charged with building the state capitol but had a falling out with the city's fathers he then took his plans and left for France..an African American astronomer, mathematician and surveyor who was assisting him one Benjamin Banneker remembered the plans from memory and was thus able to finish the project.. controversial claims by some..he did not follow Lafayette's plans so he made his own and claimed it was Lafayette's whether there is any truth to that or not the state capitol is dominated by African symbolism Kemitian that is .
