Some really awesome pictures of hairstlyes that were once worn throughout East Africa from Egypt and Lybia to the Horn of Africa. Today vestiges of this cultural aesthetic survive among the Afar and neghboring ethnic groups to create the curling hairstyles commonly depicted on the temple walls of Egypt. Hair styles made with the use of butter.

Apart from the common geological location and the same language family, is there some sort of link between Cushitic and Omotic people. It was something I was always curious about.

Very interesting, again the ancient Egyptians were in lock step with the rest of Africa( Black) in that hair styles was a sign of rank & status. The head rest that the ancient Egyptians used along with many other cultures in Africa was a way to protect & preserve the elaborate coiffures that they wore while at rest & sleep. I noticed they did not mention the scented cones of fat that was worn by the ancient Egyptians during banquets & other festive events that would melt with the heads body heat over the hair imparting a fragrant aromatic aroma over the hair.
