When FlyDesign52 asked about Cairo it brought an illo from the subject title mind. I could've just posted a few relevant pages but decided something quite a bit fuller was in order. Though this book came out 42 years ago and is outdated in part, it remains required reading for cultural historians seeing through Afrikan eyes. Bear with me. I'm sure you'll find this a treat. Please so not post until I finish the tedious job of transferring at least a score or more pages from the book to this site. I will not tolerate lunatic writing in all caps ranting & raving racebait and unless owner, admin, or mods say no then I will delete it. Otherwise all critique and disagreement is welcome and encouraged. Just cut and paste the particular jpg you want to make your comments on.

You can skip this post if you understand the nature of our struggle. Those of you who believe you are trailblazers in this field definitely need to absorb this post. You are not the first nor will you be the last. A luta continua! ... ... ...

FlyDesign52 Here's Chancellor Williams answer to your question about Cairo's founding. As you can read, it's much more complex than a single date after the Muslim conquest.

I could conclude with the above but instead will present more on Wms point of view about the Levantization and Arabization of Egypt including the important fact of those who whole heartedly Africanized themselves.
