Great roundup. The info is of note because it speaks of urbanization in parts of
Africa, giving readers understanding of some key waste disposal tech in urban
areas. Its not the most exciting subject but its the kind of detail that again debunks
the assortment of racists who keep advancing the bogus "mud hut" meme..
I am not as active these days but had to school racist author Jared Taylor and
his acolytes on the same type of thing recently. The double storied houses mentioned
are also interesting because racist "deep" thinker Taylor asserted that black folk
in "sub-Saharan" Africa did not build any houses above one story!
JARED TAYLOR on unz.com SAYS:
In all that vast area south of the Sahara, before outsiders arrived, no one had discovered the wheel or made a calendar or invented even the simplest mechanical device.
No one in black Africa invented writing. Ancient Meroitic script, which was used in Nubia, was adapted from Hieroglyphics. ------------------------------ -----------------
Bwa ha ha ha ha. What a crock of idiotic drivel. Must “the Taylorites” again be schooled? Crack a wry smile.. Let’s begin shall we..
First black Africans: are not “confined” to “sub-Saharan” Africa. The Sahara is not some sort of “apartheid” wall behind which “the bleks” huddle, although “the Taylorites” and their neo-segregationist buddies would love it to be so. Blacks have ranged widely throughout Africa, and the “Middle East” for millennia. Indeed, the Out of Africa migrations populated the earth from “sub-Saharan” Africa, in the first place. Thus “bleks” have long been in Egypt, Nubia, and other points North. Indeed, the people most closely related to Ancient Egyptians and Nubians, but blacks have long been in Egypt from the beginning as credible scholars show (Gatto 2011, Yurco 1989, Lovell 1999, Bard 2011, Keita 2005 etc etc), without needing any “Nubians” to explain why. So much for Taylor’s strawman on this score. “Black Africa” includes all of Africa, as shown by credible scholars.
.
Second, as far as “discovery of the wheel” or “devices” white Europeans did not “discover” such either. Nor did they discover numerous other things- like early geared, powered types of machinery (waterwheels for example), gunpowder, the compass, paper, printing, metallurgy, and key plant and animal domesticates that feed today’s humanity. And wheels and wheeled vehicles go back millennia in Sub-Saharan Africa, long before any Arabs or Europeans showed up. What hindered the extensive use of wheeled vehicles is not the simpleton “explanation” of “IQ” but the tsetse fly belt that decimated load-bearing draft animals, and people. But even with the enviro deck stacked, wheeled vehicles are depicted from ancient times in Western Africa- at Tondia, near Goundam, south of Timbuktu in today's Mali, and at Kourki south of the Niger bend in the Republic of Niger (Robin Law. 1980.) These locations were “sub-Saharan” before the constant shifting of the desert south.
.
And actually calendars were in place in Africa for millennia before any Europeans or Arabs showed, as the ancient megaliths of Chad or Nabta Playa on the border with today’s Sudan show. And “mechanical devices” appear, dare we say it, in spades, among the blacks in Egypt, Nubia, Ethiopia and Northeast Africa.
TAYLOR SAYS
Ge’ez, which is used to write Ethiopian, was modeled on a South Arabian script. --------------------------------- ---
So what? Blacks are on both sides of the Red Sea in South Arabia and in Africa when Ge’ez first flourished so the originators would be black in any event. As far as Nsibidi further West, it is not merely for decoration, Credible scholars have shown that it was in fact a form of writing, utilizing both symbols and phonetic elements, and was used for everything from messages, to court cases, to even romantic letters. It was a true writing system as credible mainstream scholars attest- quote:
The nsibidi system of the Ekoi, Igbo and Ibibio peoples of the Cross River area of present-day Nigeria used over a thousand signs to represent a considerable number of concepts as well as some sounds. Nsibidi was used to record court cases and convey complex messages, including warnings in wartime, and for summarizing folktales and personal narratives; its pictograms thus constituted a true writing system. As with the Malian systems of graphic signs, knowledge of nsibidi was often acquired within the initiation societies, but unlike the Malian ones, nsibidi signs were often tattooed on the body or dramatically enacted through gestures." --Kevin Shllingford (2004) "Literacy and Indigenous Scripts: Pre-colonial West Africa" - Encyclopedia of African History
.
By the way Europeans did not “discover” writing or the alphabet either but copied it from the Middle East. The alphabet used today was actually based on Egyptian writing scripts modified by Semitic speaking Egyptians as Yale archaeologist Richard Similarly, the main white European religion did not originate in Europe, but also in the sub-tropical Middle East, before it was copied and taken to Europe. In fact, using Taylor’s simpleton arguments, it could be well said that white Europe developed none of the key technologies on its own but had to depend on the sub-tropical peoples of the “Middle East” like Jews.
JARED TAYLOR SAYS
“No one domesticated an animal or built a two-story house…Black Africans never built anything remotely like these buildings… This is the level at which most blacks were living South of the Sahara when Arabs and Europeans first arrived. --------------------------- ---------------------
LMAO at more ignorant BS from Taylor. Let’s continue our lesson. Actually black Africans have pioneered several animal domesticates, including a key domesticate such as the donkey in northeast Africa, and grains such as millet and sorghum. And as far as writing scripts, the black Africans of the Nile Valley, including both Egyptians and Nubians had those millennia in advance of supposed more high IQ white Europeans who had to borrow and copy them from the Middle East, and whose alphabetical script today, in part, derives from that developed in Africa, under Semitic speaking Egyptians. As far as monumental buildings, the blacks of Egypt and Nubia already had those in spades, but further south, in Ethiopia, the blacks constructed among the largest single stone monument in the world as scholar John reader shows- quote:
The early Askumites built in stone. They erected massive carved monoliths over the graves of their leaders (one was 33 meters long and weighed over 700 tonnes, arguably the largest single piece of worked stone ever hewn." (John Reader, The Africans, 1998. pg 208).
And as far as “two-story” buildings, such were old news in Western Africa before any Arabs showed up. The peoples of Wagadu (pre-Islamic Ghana) had palaces and fortifications way beyond “two” stories, and below them in that area were gold mines with shafts extending down hundreds of feet. In fact, long before the rise of Wagadu, the peoples of West Africa were mining copper circa 500 years BC, and left behind not only their mine tailings, but the remains of villages and fortified walls constructed of heavy masonry. At ancient Dhar Tichit in western Africa two-stories are old news amid massive stone compounds, walls and other structures. Excavations reveal ramps to access upper levels along with watchtowers.

So much for Taylor’s “knowledge” “drop”…
^^Oh did we forget to mention another indigenous "sub-Saharan" polity that
built in more than "two-stories"? lol
