Recommend this a docu-drama about the volcanic eruption on the Island of Thera that may have in part given rise to the legend of Atlantis what was particularly interesting was the populous response to the looming disaster.

Anansi,
I'm finding your post with video's about Atlantis kind of confusing. Here's why. I have never viewed Atlantis in a real concrete sense. I tend to view Atlantis through the lens of occultism & esotericism. Thus I never have been one to see Minoan/ Cretan civilization as the legend of Atlantis, even with the eruption with the island of Santorini , which lends itself to the myth.
I believe it might have been Herodotus that this legend was passed down to by the Egyptians. But it seems that the west wants to confuse Minoan/ Crete with Atlantis to make it real.
This is what the occutist say about Atlantis; There was actually two great civilizations, Lemuria (The land of Moo) & Atlantis. Lemuria being in the Pacific, Atlantis in the Atlantic. The mother land of Lemuria reflected the positive polarity & spiritual principle & therefore produced a spiritually motivated civilization dedicated to the qualities such as love, acceptance, & living in harmony with the earth. By contrast Atlantis embodied the negative polarity & material principle & eventually spawned a materialistic civilization, devoted to analytical reasoning, technological research & the domination of planet earth. As you can see corresponds to the western world esp. America, that I believe why this connection made ! !
Now for myself a far more interesting historical picture of Minoan/ Crete can be found in Cheika Anata Diop last book "Civilization or Barbarism : An Authentic Anthropology," chapter three The Myth of Atlantis Restored to Historical Science, Through Radiocarbon Analysis .
What your first video said was that Crete was Egypt rival. Not as Diop see's it. They were contemporary with each other but, Minoan/Crete was a vassal of Egypt since the 18th dynasty when Egypt formed the world first empire, therefore under Egypt's zeitgeist. I highly recommend this book if you do not have it already & read chapter three very enlightening. Diop will always trump any thing that the British BBC might be saying on the subject of Mionan/Crete in my book.

I highly recommend this book if you do not have it already & read chapter three very enlightening. Diop will always trump any thing that the British BBC might be saying on the subject of Mionan/Crete in my book. Well yes Crete was no rival to Kemet but they were powerful in there own right and the 18th dyn kings did expand their power or influence into that area. Cretans bearing tributeBut the Crete matched the legend in certain ways but failed in others 1 The shape of the island 2 Wealthy seafarers 3 The nature of the destruction The failure 1 The legend stated that Atlantis lay beyond the pillars of Heracles, that's the closest point between Africa and Europe heading out into the "Atlantic"2 The legend mentioned 9kyrs prior, Minoan Crete was destroyed about 1500 B.C Some authors Bernal and Poe suggest that the myth was the result of some garbled recollection of two civilizations given to Salon by the priest of Kemet, one was Crete itself and the other some recollection of early contact between them and Civilizations in the America's The story of the Isle of Atlantis first occurs in Plato's two dialogues the "Timaeus" and the "Critias." Plato's story centers on Solon, a great Greek legislator and poet who journeyed to Egypt some 150 years earlier. While in the Egyptian city of Sais Solon received the story of Atlantis from priests. The priests respected Solon's reputation and cordially welcomed him. They also respected the Athenians, whom they regarded as kinsmen, because they believed their deity Neith to be the same deity as the Greeks called Athena. Therefore, she was believed to be the patroness and protector of both Greece and Egypt. The story that the priests told Solon was unknown to him. According to ancient Egyptian temple records the Athenians fought an aggressive war against the rulers of Atlantis some nine thousand years earlier and won. These ancient and powerful kings or rulers of Atlantis had formed a confederation by which they controlled Atlantis and other islands as well. They began a war from their homeland in the Atlantic Ocean and sent fighting troops to Europe and Asia. Against this attack the men of Athens formed a coalition from all over Greece to halt it. When this coalition met difficulties their allies deserted them and the Athenians fought on alone to defeat the Atlantian rulers. They stopped an invasion of their own country as well as freeing Egypt and eventually every country under the control of the rulers of Atlantis. Shortly after their victory, even before the Athenians could return home, Atlantis suffered catastrophic earthquakes and floods until it disappeared beneath the sea. All of the brave men were swallowed up in one day and night of horror according to legend.www.pantheon.org/articles/a/atlantis.htmlNow if we violate the 9000 yrs part and put it at 900 to the time of Solon we have a near perfect match for the date of the destruction of Crete.

I have no beef with the historical aspect of Minoan/Crete & it's demise. Like I stated I tend to go with the occult view, story, or myth of Lemuria & Atlantis which was in a time when mankind was not even clothed in flesh as we are today. Again Diop to me gives a more detailed historical view of Minoan/Crete than those video's in your post, because he doe's not leave out Egypt's dominate influence of the age. another way of looking at it is, you can't have one without the other. They both were major players of the epoch !
I don't confuse historical Minoan/Crete with the spiritual allegory of Lemuria & Atlantis which hold a more important place for me.
