Mendeman, what a find ! This interview is truly like Ivan van Sertima, now an ancestor is speaking to us. Very rarely do you find a interview by a Euro American done with finesse,& skill. Equally Van Sertima answers with great finesse, skill, & truth; something I think many could learn from. He is a ancestor that we should always hold high & never forget ! ! I would really like to know when this interview was done ?

Mendeman, thanks for the answer . In the video he talks( Van Sertima) about the Chinese making Fire but found out it was made a thousand years before in Africa, this is about at 3:00 . He could not have been talking about fire, he must have been talking about fire powder & forgot to say powder , what's your reading of this or any one else understanding about this subject ? I have heard that the priest of ancient Kemet had made fire powder before China.

Mendeman , Or anyone else ( Anansi )I would really appreciate if you would advance the video to 3:00 to check out what he is saying about this matter of" Fire". Again either it was cut (edited out) the word powder or he forgot do to nerviness to complete his whole sentence. when i say fire powder I'm talking about what Europeans got from China to make into "Gun Powder". Which gave them the edge over everyone else. Ivan Van Sertima says some very salient, important, things if one really listens closely ! ! Somewhat to my mind, like a blue print on how to move forward. It makes sense that in 1997 he was being confronted with the term Afro-Centric which one rarely hears now in 2012 at least to the extent it was used in the late 80's into the 90's to discredit scholars of African descent or any one else that took that historical position on African esp.. Egyptian Culture & history. Also listen very closely to his last remarks about this country & it's could be down fall esp. in regards to Japan /China which was at that time next to America in economic power, & now 2012 China who is competing for the top spot of economic power in the world. Very insightful & somewhat prophetic !

To me it sounds like fire and it doesn't sound edited at all. But once he said the word, he didn't elaborate so I am not sure if he meant something else or not. But from first glance it seems like, he said what he meant.
Though, I don't know how any academic could really believe such a claim given the first humans are African. But then again, eurocentric non sense has prevailed for so long, who knows?!

Mendeman, thanks for the review of the video. You are right, in that it doe's not look like it was edited . That's one of the reason I wanted to know when the video was done. It just doe's not sound right on it's on, about fire. I remember on Egyptsearch a discussion about Egypt having invented fire powder (Gun Powder) before China. It sounds plausible for the high priest were also ancient (scientist) alchemist, way, way, before Europe. Also the ancient Egyptian were just as inventive as the ancient Chinese & I might say older! But like Ivan Van Sertima says you must be able to back up your claims with some data of some kind, & just not boasting. So if any one here on ESR can provide some real data on the subject I would really appreciate it.
