still slams Magic Johnson
link
The above is part of an interview with Donald Sterling on CNN,I have heard this accusation leveled by many AAs mainly in Blk media and street level political figures, sometimes we take it for granted that what's being said is true, but I think this is the first time I have heard it from a non Black, now those of us who linked here on a regular basis will remember the thread by Zarahan
link
Here^..but we are talking about working class donors and church goers,Oprah looms large we know of her work in South Africa ,which some have criticized rightly or wrongly but in the end she gave, but what about the rest,I have heard some commentators said that they..the Black Rich should bail-out or try to bail-out Detroit, is it their job to do so??
In the interview he also mentioned Jews gave each other low interest loans to help each other out,I will say this that in the Caribbean part of the AA communities there also exist a system of informal banking called Susu or partners matter of fact I made this thread linkexactly a year ago without any comment and a few hits,so what he is talking about already exist in our community although on a smaller scale I suspect, but it does help in the rise of the Caribbean middle class sighted by Zarahan. link
Here^..certainly we can do better if only we truly consider ourselves a community and learn from each other do we really need a rabid racist to call us out on our supposed short comings before we act, pls post your opinions.
still slams Magic Johnson
Sterling: Some African-Americans 'don't want to help anybody'
In comments that drew immediate backlash across social media, Sterling said Johnson hasn't done anything.
"What has he done? Can you tell me? Big Magic Johnson, what has he done?" Sterling said.
Sterling, who is Jewish, said Jewish people spend great amounts of money helping other Jews who are poor while rich black people turn their backs to people in need.
"That's one problem I have. Jews, when they get successful, they will help their people, and some of the African-Americans -- maybe I'll get in trouble again -- they don't want to help anybody," he said.
Cooper asked, "So are you saying that African-Americans don't contribute to African-American communities as much as Jewish people --"
Sterling -- measured for much of the interview -- cut Cooper off and snapped back.
"There's no African-American --," he said, raising his voice. "Never mind, I don't know, I'm sorry. You know, they all want to play golf with me. Everybody wants to be with me. I'm easy. I'm fun."
