I am always encouraged when I read stories like this..this man built his own telescope at age thirteen..I was playing Cowboys n Indians and with my G.I Joe set.. ;D
Still playing with G.I. Joe at age 13, no wonder you couldn't get any girlfriends . I moved away from "dolls" with the advent of Ms. Pac Man, long before the age of 13, LOL.
Thanks for posting these videos, they were very interesting, I wish posters will take the time to view them. He brought up some very interesting points here; White South Africans, were just like White Americans in suppressing African history. It must have been a concerted effort by the oppressors to erase our history.
He is correct in asserting that the Ghana empire was bigger than any European empire that existed during the same time frame, so it's erroneous for them to assert (as some tend to believe until this very day) that Africans had no history before the arrival of the Europeans.
I do believe that Africans have been studying the stars since the earliest evidence of farming exisisted over 10,000 years ago in the Mali area, around the time most of Western Europe was still covered in ice. So how could these same people believe that 'they' civilized Africans, is beyond me. Surely they were stuck in caves somewhere when Africans were already studying the Universe and our connection to it.
He's correct, an agricultural society had to understand astronomy in order to predict rainfall, season changes, etc. I found evidence that people came from all over the world to study in Timbuktu, and there exists manuscripts to prove that they were already studying, math, science, medicine and literature. It was written in their "own" form of Arabic, which may have been adopted from the east, but definitely expanded in West Africa, as even Arabs themselves came to Mali to learn.
Again good videos *thumbs up*
