Anansi quick question on this part. You say neighbours bad mouth each other all the time and I agree with you on that point. However if the Egyptians truly came from the Nubians then why didn't they ever mention it? Why didn't they mention themselves as having similarities phenotypically/anatomically to the Nubians? or even coming from the same source/geography as the Nubians? Basically what I'm getting at is there seems to be a lot of descriptions given by AE's differentiating themselves from the Nubians but never documents with AE's describing any similarities between the two.....I just find it a bit odd given that the two groups were supposedly so similar.
Your "innocent inquiry" seems a strawman. No credible scholar or student holds that Egyptians
came solely from Nubians. The fluctuating ancient climatic "pump" of the Sahara had multiple
groups of people moving in and out of the valley, and the surrounding deserts, including
the Nubian desert. No one credible holds that the foundational population of Egypt comes
only and exclusively from "Nubia." Egyptians would have no reason to make absolutist statements
like "we all exclusively came from people living in a strip of territory south of Aswan."
Your second point seems also a bit curious- Why didn't they mention themselves as having similarities
phenotypically/anatomically to the Nubians? They didn;t need to go around saying such because
dark skinned Egyptians are numerous, just like similar Nubians. Such would be so obvious they
would not have to go around saying it, anymore than Canadians go around saying to one another, "You
know, there are white people in both Canada and the US across the border." Wow.. Really? lol. No doubt
the rejoinder is that the Egyptians recognized differences between themselves and the
Nubians. Sure. Who doesn't know this? But these were cultural and political not racial, as credible scholars
have long shown. In like manner the British and French point out numerous differences between themselves,
but they both know they are Europeans, a point so obvious that they do not have to go about mentioning it
in every government document dealing with the two peoples. Just as people from France and Britain have
fought each other for centuries, so Nubians and Egyptians have fought, but also they are closely linked,
and they have been allies one with another.
But in any event, the close relationship between the two peoples defeats racial "splittism"
and related strawmen. Egyptians did not have to "mention" this or that. Modern data shows
the population linkages clearly. Nubians are the people most related to Egyptians as credible scholars
have long shown (Yurco 1989, Godde 2009 et al. etc)). Trying to get around this fact by assorted
diversionary strawmen fails.
