It seems like a number of African Americans/Blacks are seriously thinking about moving to the continent of Africa..this is not new we were having these conversations back in the day..But I've never seen as in today Black folks really just not talking but actually moving back..we are at a pivotal point in America as at a Cross Roads so to speak.Now I know that their are those right here on ESR who are already living outside the US...by choice or by birth..What are your thoughts..I've said it before this is a site about history..But we are making & living it Right NOW...If this country & world survives this calamitous period we are in ; they will be reading about us in the history books of the future....

Expanding horizons and exploring new markets is always a good idea. There can be no negative. Af-Ams should continue to do this more. Africa has a long long runway for economic growth so assuming you find a politically stable option, then emigrating is a good idea full time or part time is good.

Well stated ...here are a couple of video's to help sort some of this out.. I have a buddy from Zambia & I have to say if I was to make the move full or part time Zambia would be at the top of my list..

Are there any Youtube videos on the pitfalls and traps? I've heard of people being disillusioned- it was not what they expected, and few were happy to see them, particularly if it looked like you might take a job away from the locals. Then a hassle is claimed in navigating the local bureaucracies and bribes.. In other words, go in with eyes wide open, using a hard-nosed realism not romanticism.

Man, like with anything you got to do your research, such a person as yourself you know that... Lots of good tips in the video's above & with many others... Black folks have been going & living in Africa forever...so their are tons of different perspectives on each country etc.What makes this time I feel is different we are in the 21century with a host of new information & more Black folks actually going over laying down a information highway if you will also many African countries are wanting us to come home like Ghana making the transition hopefully easier ..Any one making such a move with out doing their research & going 1st to visit as the brother talks about in the 1st video is going " on a fools errand" ..!!!.. You going to always have people who are Wet Blankets ..& like to throw cold water on ..things that they can't or are to fearful... of doing..push they ass aside do ones research connect with other like minds..& always have a back up plan...

Been saying this for a long time.you guys, Anansi , could you elaborate..not sure I understand...? Their might have been post about this subject that I might have missed..but I don't remember what you have said about this topic..myself personally has been a topic about going to Africa since the 60's & have several fiends that have gone in the early 70's & one who did live in Africa ..so for me the subject is not new..what I find new like in my post was now it is the 21century with a lots of new information including the internet & social media along with a NEW AWAKENING in Africa..My view has become that I really feel that it's a " Evolutionary" push forward for many to return to Africa to help in the future building & a future Golden Age in the 21century... Video below gives a glimpse of what Africa could look like in the future if the world gets through the current crisis ;
