Hello folks
Without warning Egyptsearch seems to be gone forever, thousands of threads not accessible A few thousand by me There sort of was a warning though, the site had been going down for two weeks at a time and then coming back up and over again, with no commentary by the admins Also not long before that Tukular disappeared and no one knew why but could be unrelated to the site going down I assume that's the case here also. I still see Egyptsearch threads listed in google searches but they can't be seen. A shame

^ The website has exceeded its data space, so the data is still there but is unavailable for viewing let alone function. Many of the urls of pictures posted there are still available in search engines but the text is cannot be viewed. Unless new data space is purchased OR old data is purged then really nothing can be done. There remains the option of turning the forum into an archive for viewing only with the posting function deactivated indefinitely but that all depends on the web masters. I tried emailing him/them but got no response yet. So for now the original Egyptsearch forum is in a state of cyber limbo.

Is there any chance any of the mods here or from old ES know the current site owner? If memory serves me correct as person named Ausar created the site, and then its ownership was transferred to someone else. It would honestly be a tragedy if the site was lost forever, was undoubtedly the greatest resource to learn about genuine African history, I'd honestly compare its loss to the destruction of the Library of Alexandria and the destruction of Baghdad.

The good news is that much of the information posted on ES came from academic papers, books, and other websites that you can still access today if you know how. ES was more than anything else a simple repository of that information and a place to discuss it. So, while I will miss some of the quality discussions we had on the old forum, at least the original sources of information are almost all still there.
Plus, this forum having more up-to-date software than the old ES has its perks. Take the blocking feature for instance. All the old ES's "ignore" feature did was block PMs from people, so if someone like Antalas or Sarapis was posting garbage on the forum, you had to put up with them unless a forum admin chose to get involved. This forum's blocking feature, on the other hand, means you don't have to see the posts of people on your block list.

^ Still. There were so many sources posted there and pictures as well, that I personally did not save in either of my pcs. It's my fault for being to dependent on that repository.

I think I remember telling you guys to crosspost from there to here, or use here as archive, because there was alway a rumor that it might get shut down, too bad a lot of yrs worth of great research and information and conversations are now lost.
