Good info. A striking reminder that Africa has the highest genetic diversity of all places on earth.

Another example of contacts. However, taken as a whole, these pictures varify the info posted by Zahran that Africa is home to a large range in ingrown physical diversity. The picture under the guy with dreads, (who is wearing contacts), shows a girl with hazel eyes. I have only met one African with natural blue eyes, but I have seen people with green, amber and light brown as well. Although Europe has a much higer percentage of people with light colored eyes, it by no means means that they have a monopoly on this or any other feature. The thing is that most of us have never, (nor will ever be able to), traveled extensively across Africa. Therefore, we are most familiar with Afro descendants in the Americas, so when we see someone with light colored eyes, we automatically assume its due to mixture. While mixture does play a role, this proves that it is not always the only explanation. It is just as likely that some Afro decendants with light eyes actually inherited them from an African ancestor, not a European ancestor, even when mixture does exist in the individual's bloodline. The more we learn, the more we realize that onceunquestioned assumptions about Africa and its peoples needs to be discarded. Really facinating.
